Mastiha is the natural resin of Pistacia lentiscus var chia, a tree which grows only on the Aegean island of Chios, Greece with many beneficial properties and wide-ranging uses since antiquity.

Mastiha was the first chewing gum worldwide!

Important Note: Μastiha tears are commonly used for cooking and baking (after crushing the tears in order to make them powder), for chewing in order to maintain good oral hygiene (be careful they are quite hard and may stick in your teeth) but also as well as a natural ingredient for preventing and improving gastrointestinal disorders symptoms.

Uses:

1. As a natural chewing gum, alone or with beeswax to make it softer.

2. As a healthy ingredient for cooking.

3. As a digestive beverage, when added in water (by adding 50g of Mastiha in 1L of water and leaving it in the fridge overnight).

Interesting note: the more frozen the mastiha is, the easier it becomes powder and does not stick!
